Piwik – an open source alternative to Google Analytics
I recently blogged about trying out Google Analytics. The service is nice, but I’d much prefer to keep my hands on the data than let Google store it. In fact, they aren’t giving you the data, only some reports they believe you want to see. So an open source alternative to Google Analytics would be much wanted, as that would let you keep the data yourself.
I just ran into this promising project:
piwik is an open source (GPL license) web analytics software. It gives interesting reports on your website visitors, your popular pages, the search engines keywords they used, the language they speak… and so much more.
Seems promising, and the fact that it is open source means we can most likely expect more features in the future. I’d probably be testing it out right away if I had a reliable hosting solution…
Is there any Java or .Net porting option available for Piwik? As I know there is nothing. Let me know if you know of any options?
