Google Apps for fealdia.org users
May 27th, 2008
I’ve finished jumping through all the hoops of setting up Google Apps for fealdia.org, so anyone wanting to test it out may bug me for an invitation. This means the folks idling on #fealdia @ freenode.
Here’s what you get:
- A good opportunity to test out Google Apps in case you haven’t yet
- “Official” token of being part of the family
- A mailbox similar to GMail, with address ircnick (@) fealdia.org
- No nasty length limits like with GMail
- The address you want is not reserved… like with GMail
- Webmail access via webmail.fealdia.org (IMAP, too)
- Optional mail aliases (eg. firstname.lastname (@) fealdia.org)
- A separate e-mail quota from gmail, currently 6766 MiB
- A mailing list alias that reaches all users (ok, this one can be discussed)
- You can continue using your regular gmail account and forward fealdia.org mail there (and use GMail’s “send mail as another user”, so you won’t have to log in to read fealdia.org mail separately).
- Currently enabled services:
- Gorgeous Start Page – apps.fealdia.org
- Similar to iGoogle but with some preselected widgets, feeds and quick mailbox view.
- Email – webmail.fealdia.org
- Calendar – calendar.fealdia.org
- Docs – docs.fealdia.org
- Sites – sites.fealdia.org
- (Chat)
- Gorgeous Start Page – apps.fealdia.org
Prohibited actions are listed in Google Apps Standard Edition Administrator Program Policies, pretty much the usual common sense stuff.
So, please try it out (send mail to hoxu@fealdia.org and I’ll send you login info back)!
